This scrapbook includes photographs, illustrations, commencement and class day booklets, correspondence, report cards, and ephemera collected by Emma R. Kerns, Model School Class of 1916. It offers insight into the daily lives and school careers of the Model students throughout the school's final years before its closure after the 1917 academic year. Later annotations also appear; some are perhaps by Miss Kerns before her death in 1977, but others most likely were added by past Trentoniana librarians following the book's donation ca. 1977. Any additions in a clearly different hand have been rendered in italics. Some of these italicized annotations simply read "index," probably referring to Trentoniana's card catalogue.

Due to the volume's bulky nature, it was not possible to digitize without disbinding the entire volume and scanning pages individually. Two photos of the book before this process are included at the end of the PDF. Pages have been scanned in order, skipping any blank sections; as a result, page numbers may appear to jump. Kerns also pasted many booklets and folded items into these pages, and these items sometimes required multiple scans to entirely capture. Finally, note that file size limits have required a significant amount of compression to host this PDF, and may negatively affect the quality of the images. An unaltered version is available through Trentoniana upon request.

This scrapbook includes photographs, illustrations, commencement and class day booklets, correspondence, ephemera, and manuscript materials collected by Grace B. Fletcher, Model School Class of 1907. It offers insight into the daily lives and school careers of the Model students throughout the first decade of the 20th century. While the bulk of the items pasted into the work date to around 1907, some date to as early as 1901. In addition, some annotations must have been added later, at least as early as 1916.

Plate 29 of 48 in the 1930 edition of Franklin Survey Company's Real Estate Plat-Book of the City of Trenton and Borough of Princeton, Mercer County, New Jersey. This plate depicts the Coalport/North Clinton neighborhood of Trenton, where the Normal and Model School campus was located--the school buildings are located on the lot at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Perry Street, while the dormitories are situated along Model Avenue, across from the main campus. By the end of the 1930s, the college had moved to the Hillwood Lakes Campus, and by the end of the 1950s most of this neighborhood had been razed in the name of "urban renewal." The site of the Normal and Model Schools is currently occupied by the U.S. Grant Intermediate School.

Note that this volume is not considered part of the same physical collection as the State Normal and Model Schools collection, instead being part of Trentoniana's historical maps.

This single page leaflet marks the transition between the Normal and Model Schools in Trenton and the modern institution known as The College of New Jersey in Ewing. Aside from celebrating "Alumni Week-End" (the equivalent to today's homecoming, though held in the Spring), the celebrations marked the schools' 76th anniversary and the cornerstone-laying for the first building at Hillwood Lakes, Green Hall. This booklet most likely came from the same student as the other dance cards; this student was also a member of the Arguromathos Society and may have donated the photos from the same time period. Regardless, this dance, held at Trenton's prestigious Stacy-Trent Hotel, shows that despite the Normal School's relocation to Ewing, connections to Trenton remained for some time. As with the related items, this booklet includes spaces to write dance partners' names--in this case, the student danced with "Keith," "Don," "Fred," "George," "Armas," and "Charles." This booklet most likely came from the same student as the other dance cards; this student was also a member of the Arguromathos Society and may have donated the photos from the same time period. This dance was billed as a "Star Dust Banquet," and unlike the other dance cards in this collection, it includes a menu/program of events. As with the related items, the booklet includes spaces to write dance partners' names--in this case, the only name recorded is "Robert Deakins." No transcription.

This photo exists as both a print and as the original glass plate negative. The first page is a scan of the print, while the second is a direct scan of the negative. Both depict the a boy and his Dalmatian dog at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Monmouth Street. While the photographer remains unidentified, the negative was found with others attributed to John S. Neary, Sr., the school's business administrator and a photographer by hobby.

The Censor list the topics of upcoming debate: women's suffrage, the usefulness of French versus German, and the effects of theatre on public morals. The final question has been circled, likely indicating that it was the chosen topic. Transcription included.
