Biographical history
William Brokaw Bamford was born on August 22, 1878, to Catherine and Charles Y. Bamford, in Trenton, New Jersey. He attended the Model School where he was a member of the Thencanic Society and graduated in the class of 1896. He was a colonel in the 1st Regiment, Volunteer Engineers during the Spanish American War, and served as a military instructor in World War . He graduated from Princeton University in 1901, and worked as an architect and engineer. Later, he served as mayor of Belmar, New Jersey. He died on April 10, 1945, in Belmar.

Scope and content
This small notebook compiles the names of all of the officers of the Thencanic Society from its founding in 1882 to the end of the 19th century. Names through 1896 were recorded by William Bamford, who gifted the book to the Society around his graduation from the Normal School. Information for the last years is written in several different hands. A transcript is available below.
